About zlatko

Bio

According to some, I'm avant-garde ;)

I try to stick to software development and engineering topics, often related to application development, but I also shitpost random stuff, occassionally about photography, (usually not more then) react to politics or economics.

My website is https://zlatko.dev but I less completely-infrequently post a photo or two to my photo gallery https://photos.zlatko.dev.

I also used to post at https://pixelfed.social/zlatko, and https://programming.dev/u/zlatko, and I'll occassionally swipe here and there.

The boys and I took to the mountains today. We heard about a silver vein, and wanted to see if we could find it.

We wandered about for half a day, finding nothing but a single obsidian rock - which we promptly mined. As we went on, we found a remains of a camp on top of the mountain just as the sun was setting, and repaired enough of it to stay the night. Just as we lit a fire, a flying beast accosted us, and turned it out. It didn't take long to take it down with arrows, so we did, we rebuilt the fire and went to sleep.

In the morning, another drake found us. We managed to beat it, but by that time, the frost got to us. We had some resistance mead, but only a few moments left. We decided to get off the mountain, and set about. Alas, a wolf howl froze us, and in panic, each of us started running in a different direction. Strg and I were attacked by a wolf, but Erik got past them scot-free. Nevertheless, after hours of wandering about, we all met back at our camp at the foot of the mountain.

We didn't find silver, but we found adventure, and thank Odin, no unneeded heroic deaths.

What s satisfactory reading:
https://wolf.nereid.pl/posts/image-viewer/

It's quite long and it took me two commute train rides, it's in a slightly ranty but actually amusing style. It digs deep into lower level details of photography, math, images, software libraries and even licences. For someone who doesn't work with this stuff and only watches from the sidelines, it was quite a ride. Imma treat myself a cookie just for reading it through to the end.

Thanks for the high entertainment value, @wolfpld, how long did it take to write the article? Longer then the vv itself, I bet :)
