jump to expanded postGreat news, everyone! Apparently I've been complaining loudly and frequently about having to suffer the mac, and my boss said, "hey, I've secured a Windows laptop for you that you can convert into a Linux machine".
@zlatko Couldn’t you have installed Linux on the mac?
@orangelantern possibly, but it's not worth the hassle, and in the end some things still don't work.
@orangelantern plus the keyboard is weird to me :)
@zlatko I use a standard Windows keyboard on my Mac. Out of necessity, because it is shared with my Windows machine and Windows really doesn't like mac keyboards. The Mac doesn't complain though, so it's all good.
@zlatko I have installed Ubuntu on 5 different Macs over the last years without a hitch. Worked like a charm every time. I can't say how well this will work with the current processor generation, though. Haven't tried that yet.
Well, it seems it worked out for you. I was just curious. :)

@orangelantern Yes, the funny thing was, I was (reluctantly) ready to commit and adapt and learn and change, but I guess I was doing it loudly in a grumpy manner and my boss has heard :)
